After saving the town of Shadowhaven from a threat beyond the Feywild, our group encountered significant Goblin activity. A group was running south from the mountains and were being pursued by 3 Githyanki. The party wisely chose not to intervene, but they did befriend a helpful goblin that they named "Gobby" (his real name being almost unpronouceable). Gobby helped guid them back to Phandalin and has since become a member of the party. He has proven himself to be quite effective with a bow.
This weeks update: (the story preceding this will be posted when I have time)
The party finally arrived in Waterdeep and were awestruck with the shear size of the the city. They made their way though town to Castle Waterdeep. (with only a minor ruckus occurring when Gobby stole a chicken leg from a street food vendor) They Met with Laeral Silverhand and recounted their story of Githyanki, Mind Flayers and Red Dragons.
Somewhat skeptically, she sent her servant to fetch and old man and get his perspective on this news
He knew all too well what threat this could become, and while a bit skeptical himself, he agreed to aid in their current mission of gathering help.
Gobby was not admitted to the castle and had to stay outside with Lucian (Morke, who was absent this week )
Cothana noticed the old man looked familiar and was able to deduce it was Elminster himself.
The Laeral Silverhand agreed to help and rally 100 soldiers to begin the march to Phandalin. (edited)
Elminster used the Teleportation circle in the citys graveyard to teleport (or Whoosh as he called it) Torin and Cothana accompanied The old mage to Neverwinter, Exiting in an attic in the great city.
There they met with Lord Protector Dagult Neverember
Dagult took the threat seriously and agreed to supply two platoons of archers to the defense force IF The Lords Alliance and the GotSC can come to a formal agreement.
Elminster then teleports the group to Phandalin, using the Circle in the basement of Tresendor Manor (the guild hall).
Dagult meets with Grimstead, Freya and Tarvic and they forge an agreement to come to each others aid when circumstances require it. Dagult is very impressed with the progress made in Phandalin since the redbrands were dispatched
The party then Whooshed(tm) back to Neverwinter, but not before Tarvic says "and bring back ale"
Once back in Waterdeep, the full party reuinites and begins their long journey back to Phandalin. They travel almost non-stop to make the best time they can. Only spending any significant time in the Dwarven Mining outpost at Thornhold.
There they learn that there is a heavily guarded entrance to the Underdark in the mine, and that there is rumored to be another entrance in the mountains south of Phandalin. They have never found it, however. Clan Stoneshaft wished the party well as they departed with 6 kegs of the finest dwarven ale.
After nearly a week on the road, the party arrives back in Phandalin. The Archers from Neverwinter have arrived, but the troops from Waterdeep are several days late.
Freya takes off on her Griffon to locate the reinforcements, but finds that they are camped at Triboar, seemingly having been attacked on their journey.
The party is getting ready to head to Triboar to investigate.
